The Kinder Garden Photo Scrapbook
Inspired by Michele Obama’s White House Garden and the book Edible Schoolyard by Alice Waters, Principal Patty McGinly and Kindergarten teachers Aileen Crispell and Krista McCracken began planning the “Kindergarden” in the Spring of 2009. With generous donations from business partners Bloom and Luckstone the garden began taking shape. The initial crop and harvest was a success. Students planted vegetables like spinach, radishes, and carrots from seed. Students harvested, cleaned and cooked with the crop. In the Spring of 2010 students again planted watermelon, cucumbers, carrots, zucchini, and various herbs for a summer harvest. The garden continues with an integrated curriculum across all subject areas.Visit our scrapbook on the left frame of this page often for updates.
