    Laura Purvis

    Mrs. Purvis has been teaching English in Loudoun County since 1989. After spending 13 years at Park View High School in Sterling, she transferred to Broad Run in 2002 and enjoyed teaching there until 2010. She has been Tuscarora High School's English Department Chairperson since the school opened in August of 2010.

     

    She received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Virginia in 1984 and her master's degree in English (with a concentration in the Teaching of Writing and Literature) from George Mason University in 2002.  Prior to entering the field of education, Mrs. Purvis worked as a proofreader for Arthur Andersen and Company and as a proposal editor, documentation specialist, and flood insurance underwriter for Electronic Data Systems.
     
     
    In addition, as a Teacher Consultant with the Northern Virginia Writing Project, which operates out of George Mason University, she edited four anthologies of student writing for publication.
