• Christine Tarrant, Chorus

    Christine G. Tarrant received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Mrs.Tarrant has been a choral director in the public and private sector for twenty three years. She recently moved to Virginia from Illinois. Mrs. Tarrant has been in graduate and master classes with world renowned voice professors, choral music composers and music educators: Dr. Eunice Boardman, Dr. Ollie Watts-Davis, James Bailey, William Warfield, Doreen Rao, Moses Hogan, Rollo Dilworth, Greg Gilpin and Rene Boyer.

    Previously, she was an adjunct faculty member at Lord Fairfax Community College where she taught music appreciation. During her tenure as a Middle School and High School Choral director, her students received consistent superior ratings at the district and state levels. Her students were also selected to the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) regional choirs.

    During her career, Mrs. Tarrant was a section leader and instructor for the Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Her students were also selected at ISYM for scholarships and to participate in select choirs and solos.

    As a choral educator in Illinois she was a guest conductor and clinician. Mrs. Tarrant has directed church choirs, prepared cantors and performed as a soloist in the Chicago-land area. She has been a presenter and adjudicator for the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) and is published in the Who’s Who in American Education 2006-2007 edition.
