• SHMS Absence and Dismissal Procedures

    ABSENCES AND TARDIES:

    If your child is absent from school or arriving late, please notify the school by using the

    On-line Absentee form located on the front page of the Stone Hill Website. 

     

    If you do not have access to a computer you may also call the absentee phone line at 703-957-4422 before 8:35 a.m.  If calling, it is important that you speak very clearly and give the following information:

     

    1. Your child’s name and grade
    2. Your relationship to the student and a phone number where you can be reached.
    3. The reason for the absence or tardiness.

    NOTE: if a reason is not given the absence will be unexcused.

     

    Students arriving after the late bell at 8:35 a.m., MUST report to the main office to check in.

     

    Taking a vacation?  If your child will be out of school for an extended period of time, please notify the school Attendance Secretary using the online form noted above, as well as their grade level Dean, house secretary, and teachers.

    EARLY DISMISSALS:  

                                                                                                                                                                                   

    Early dismissals are NOT allowed after 3:00pm.

     

    * DO NOT leave early dismissal messages online or on the Absentee phone line*

    Your child needs prior written approval from a parent/guardian.  Please send a note with your child on the date of your early dismissal.  The note should include the following information:

     

    • Your child’s name.
    • Reason for dismissal.
    • Time you need to pick up your child in the main office.

     

    Students should turn in the note to their respective house office before 8:35 a.m.  Your child will be given an early dismissal pass.  It is your child’s responsibility to show his/her teacher the early dismissal pass and report to the main office in a timely manner.  Students must sign out in their house office before reporting to the main office.

     

    You must come into the main office to sign your child out.  In an emergency situation, we will do our best to get your child out of class in a timely manner.  Only those listed on your child’s emergency form will be allowed to pick up your child unless we receive advanced written authorization.  Photo identification will be required from anyone picking up a student or entering the school.
