Mr. Randall May

This is Mr. May's 19th year of teaching Health and Physical Education at Stone Bridge.  He has taught 9th and Advanced PE during his tenure.  This year Mr. May will be teaching 9th HPE. In addition, Mr. May is the Chair of the Health and Physical Education Department. A native of Kirkland, WA but raised in Aston, PA.

 

Attended Lock Haven University 1974-78, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation.  Four-year varsity soccer player at Lock Haven and senior co-captain of the 1977 NCAA Division III National championship team.  

 

Attained his Master's degree in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in Secondary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University 1979-80.   Taught physical education and coached the Men's Soccer and Women's Softball at Eisenhower College, Seneca Falls, NY from 1980-82. 

 

In 1982, he moved to Cornell University as a physical education teacher and was hired as the first Head Women's soccer coach, holding that position from 1982-2000.  During his tenure, the team won two Ivy League titles, appeared in six ECAC post-season tournaments and the team was ranked six times in the final top 20 in the country.

 

He and his family moved to Ashburn, VA in 2000 and began teaching physical education and Head Varsity Boy's soccer coach at West Springfield HS, Springfield, VA. He guided the Spartans to four AAA State tournament appearances, winning three state AAA titles: 2001, 2002 and 2004.  In 2004, May began his teaching at Stone Bridge.  May coached the Varsity Boys soccer team for 11 years, guiding the Bulldogs to two Northern Region Championships and two state tournament berths, with the 2010 team playing in the state final four.
