7th Grade Guitar Students enrolled in this class music have either a six string classical or six string acoustic guitar for home use. All students MUST have an instrument for home use. Students may use school instruments IN CLASS ONLY, But are encouraged to bring their own instruments.
8th Grade Guitar Students enrolled in this course MUST bring their own instrument each day that they have class.

- No gum or candy
- Students must have agendas at all times
- Be on time (No Tardies)
- Label all instruments and books
- Must have all materials (pencil, book, instrument, tuner, etc….) for every class
- No restroom/water passes issued without agenda
Grading System
Marking period grades are calculated using the following formula:
20% - Daily work habits/class participation
20% - Practice sheets (Due once a week with parent signature or credit will not be given). Late practice sheets WILL NOT be accepted.
40% - Performance assessment
20% - Ensemble work
Extra credit: Students may receive extra credit by attending or participating in non-school related concerts or music events.
Interims: Interims will be issued to EVERYONE enrolled in music courses offered by JL Simpson Middle School.

Check with your ensemble director for specific dates as performances arise.Performance Attire: For guitar performances, students are to dress in the following:
Gentlemen- Black pants, white dress shirt, tie and dress shoes
Ladies- Black pants/long skirt, white top and dress shoes
Instrument storageAll students enrolled in the guitar program are to store instruments in the designated storage areas each day they have class. Instruments MUST be stored before school (After dismissal from morning holding areas) and picked up after the school’s dismissal bell at the end of the day.
