Back To School Night Video at the bottom of this page.

I'm excited that another school year has started, which means lots of reading and writing for students and myself. This is my twelfth year at Smart's Mill Middle School, and it's a great place to be. Before becoming a teacher, I had my own writing and editing business called Editorial Options. Before venturing out on my own, I was the editorial director at the Society for Human Resource Management in Alexandria, Va.  In that position, I oversaw the production of the association’s magazine, newspaper and helped create the first publications website.

I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonsburg, Va., with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism. I received a Publications Specialist Certificate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. , and my education in teaching from Shenandoah University based in Winchester, Va.

The best way to reach me is via email, which is: michelle.martinez@lcps.org.
I look forward to teaching your child.
Class assignments will be posted on google classroom. Your student will have the login information.
