Mr. Peter Kim
Prior to beginning his teaching career, Mr. Peter Kim served in the United States Coast Guard and worked for the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He completed his Masters in Education at the College of William and Mary in 2003 and began teaching United States History in Williamsburg, Virginia as a long-term substitute/student teacher. From 2003-2005, he worked in Newport News City Schools teaching Geography, U.S. Foreign Policy, and U.S. History.
Mr. Kim came to Loudoun County in the fall of 2005 and began teaching Advanced Placement United States History, Academic United States History, and International Relations at Potomac Falls High School. He then transitioned to the school's testing coordinator, overseeing the Virginia Standards of Learning tests for all Potomac Falls High School's students. After seven years, he dearly missed the classroom and joined the Social Science Department at Rock Ridge High School teaching AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, Semester Economics, and Personal Finance. Currently, he is teaching AP Economics and coaching the Girls Tennis Team at Lightridge High School.
Mr. Kim enjoys thoughtful conversations from a range of topics including but not limited to the following: Reniassance & Baroque Music, Tennis, Literature--Jane Austin & Patrick O'Brian Novels, Masterpiece Theater, and History. His hobbies include all outdoor activites--running, biking, hiking, camping, canoeing. He is married and has three sons.
