I have moved specific class instructions, assignments, and reminders to http://www.edmodo.com.

Students will receive access to their class page at the beginning of the year and are expected to visit their specific edmodo class page on a regular basis in order to keep in tune with class requirements and assignments.  If you are having trouble logging in or accessing info, please email me at leah.hawley@lcps.org.

Parents: Email me or ask your student for a code to access Edmodo.

What is Edmodo? Edmodo is a free, secure, social learning platform for teachers, students, schools and districts.

Application in the Classroom: Edmodo provides teachers and students with a secure and easy way to post classroom materials, share links and videos, and access homework.  Teachers and students can store and share all forms of digital content – blogs, links, pictures, video, documents, presentations, and more.

Before coming to Potomac Falls, I taught at River Bend Middle School for five years, but made the switch to the high school level in 2009. I'm very excited to be teaching as a Panther again this year. My husband also teaches in the county, so we enjoy summers off with our sweet boy Joshua. We love raising such an awesome little man!
Prior to beginning my teaching career, I attended Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, where I received a B.A. in English and Secondary Education. The years I spent at Longwood were the only years in which I lived outside of Loudoun County. I am a rarity in that I was born and raised here in Loudoun County. I finished my Masters Degree in Curriculum Instruction with a focus on Integration of Technology in Schools at George Mason in 2014 and am excited about the innovations I'm now able to implement.
I love to be outside and exercising is a great way to clear my mind. I also thoroughly enjoy being in the kitchen to concoct new recipes and dishes. Even though I'm wholly devoted to the Potomac Falls Panthers, I'm first and foremost an avid Redskins fan! Of course, it has become much harder to not jump ship! Other than devoting my time to my students, my family, and the 'Skins, I couldn't be happier curled up with a good book, and I encourage the same for my students!

    Teacher Availability/Office Hours

On most days, I arrive at school by 8:00. If you need help on an assignment, please see me in 232. Be sure to check Remind, too!

One component to a child’s education that is critical in helping them succeed is the communication that is held between the teacher and the parents and guardians. It is also my belief that the more support I have from parents and guardians, the more our students will benefit. On that note, please do not hesitate to ever get in touch with me through email (leah.hawley@lcps.org) or the use of the edmodo website.

If there is a time you need to meet with me or talk to me about your child, please get in touch through either a phone call or an email. I do, however, ask that you schedule a time with me before planning a meeting.
