Mrs. Hoffman** Hello! Due to the unexpected loss of DE Physics, some of you are reaching out about DE Biology. DE Bio is an 8 credit course like DE Physics, but it is more rigorous. The most successful students scored A's in research biology and/or chemistry (there are some that take research chem and DE Bio at the same time). There will be an assignment that will be due the first week of school ( not the first day); it is posted on the PFHS summer assignment page - https://www.lcps.org/pfhs/summerHere is the syllabus: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10GrQSAzqS6PCera0uQOwDY-NW5WAUyteqznR3YXBgpY/edit?usp=sharingPlease contact me with any questions you may have!Welcome! I have been teaching in Loudoun County for 23 years. I earned a BS in biology and a minor in chemistry from Virginia Tech. I also hold a Masters in Education from Virginia Tech, and a Masters in Biology from the University of Nebraska. For the 2023-2024 school year I will be teaching academic chemistry and AP/DE biology. All class information and materials are located on the Schoology course page, accessible through LCPS Go. AP/DE biology will transition to NOVA's platform, Canvas, once everyone is registered. Each class will need paper, pencils, pens, and a binder. Both courses will receive workbooks which will need to be brought to class every day. They last longer if they are kept in a 3 ring binder. A graphing calculator is not necessary for chemistry, but having your own scientific calculator is recommended. A TI-30xs or greater is ideal. Additional information will be included on the syllabus in Schoology.Email me (adrienne.hoffman@lcps.org)
