Mrs. Barnhart has been an educator since the year 2001. She is thrilled to have joined LCPS in 2021. Prior to joining the LCPS family as Division Instructional Facilitator (DIF), she served as MTSS coach in Indianapolis Public Schools. In her previous position, she oversaw the statewide adoption of MTSS, a data-driven approach that emphasizes whole-child metrics as a means of addressing students' personalized needs.
Prior to immigrating to the United States of America, Mrs. Barnhart received a Public Administration-focused scholarship from the South Korean National Institute of International Education (NIIED). Before beginning her Ph.D., she spent five years immersed in various Korean classrooms studying the Korean language. She recently obtained a certificate in executive leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School with a concentration in Implementing Public Policy. She is enrolled on another executive leadership certificate Public Narrative.
Mrs. Barnhart earned a master's degree in Special Education and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in the Philippines, her native country. Her interest and passion for policies, systems, processes, and outcomes began in her home country, where resources are scarce and the government system is difficult. Her father barely earned a high school diploma, and her mother did not complete elementary school. Her quest and desire to learn are rooted in a small town in the Philippines called Poblacion Balatan Camarines Sur.
