Hello, Mavericks! I am so excited to be joining the Smart's Mill staff this year as a 7th grade English teacher. While I graduated with a BA in my home state at Western Michigan University, I moved to Baltimore shortly after graduation for my first teaching job at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County. I completed my Master's degree with University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction while my husband was deployed to Afghanistan. My family and I moved to Loudoun in 2010 and we love where we live!
I have 3 daughters, ages 13, 10 and 8 and they all attend schools in Loudoun County. They all play soccer and basketball, and they swim for the summer swim team. There is a good chance that if I am not at school, I am on the side of a field or court somewhere in Northern Virginia. I love to bake, read, and travel.
I have experience teaching the middle school alternative education program at the former Douglass School, as well as 7th grade English at River Bend Middle School. I am very well-versed in the LCPS middle grades English curriculum and the vast needs of learners within Loudoun County. My goal for every student is progress, not perfection, no matter where they started when they came to me.
I love my job and I am looking forward to a fantastic year with my 7th graders! Please don't hesitate to reach out at any point throughout the school year.
