Ms. Haskell

Hello! My name is Mrs. Haskell and this will be my 2nd year as the STEP Teacher at Fredrick Douglass Elementary School.
I am thrilled to be your family’s partner in your child’s Early Childhood Education!
I have worked with families and children of all ages and backgrounds for the past 10 years in Northern Virginia.

I received my Bachelor’s of Art in Sociology and International Studies from Marymount University in Arlington, VA where my studies focused on working with diverse communities.
I served three years as an Inclusion Preschool Teacher for Loudoun County and last year I completed my Master’s Degree (M.Ed) in Curriculum and Instruction for Diverse Learners at George Mason University. I am passionate about student social and emotional development. I love working with preschoolers because this is the age where children begin learning how to speak for themselves and interact with others.

After school, I run Youth After School, an enrichment program for middle schoolers with Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS). During the summer, you might see me running camps of all ages around Loudoun and Fairfax County. I love travel, theater, fine art, cooking, and gardening.

This year we will be following the Tools of the Mind Curriculum which is implemented in preschool classrooms in Loudoun County. The curriculum is designed to encourage imagination, self-regulation, and rich language skills.
