Mrs. Holly DeVore

I am Mrs. Holly DeVore, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the AMAZING Trailside student body!  

I've had a fulfilling 28-year journey in education, and it all began at Penn State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. This laid the foundation for my lifelong passion for teaching and working with kids. After that, I pursued my dreams further and graduated with a master’s in educational leadership from George Mason University. Most recently, my own son’s journey as an immigrant to this country led me to pursue and earn an endorsement in teaching English Language Learners.

My career has been a fulfilling one, and I recently retired from Fairfax County, where I had the privilege of working with outstanding students, families, and colleagues. Now, I'm excited to bring my wealth of experience and knowledge to the EL community here at Trailside Middle School.  In my new role, in addition to teaching EL’s in my classroom, I will be co-teaching math classes across 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I can't wait to meet and work with students from different age groups, helping them develop confidence in their math skills and reach their full potential.

On a personal note, I live in Frederick, MD, with my wonderful husband, our 11-year-old son, and two adorable Maine Coon cats who keep us entertained. As a family, we love going to concerts, camping in the great outdoors with our home on wheels, and soaking up the sun at the beach. We also enjoy visiting our family outside of Pittsburgh, and you'll often find us cheering passionately for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions.

I am genuinely excited to be part of the Trailside Middle School community and look forward to getting to know all of you. Together, we can create a positive and inclusive environment where our students can be seen and whose voices can be heard.
