Hello Hillside!

My name is Esther Kim and I am excited to be joining the 2nd grade team at Hillside.
Previously, I taught 2nd grade for 8 years in Beltsville, Maryland. 
Last year, after my husband and I introduced our daughter into our lives, we decided to move to Loudoun County, where we would be close to our church community and we have been loving our time here so far. 

I studied Elementary Education with a minor in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) at the University of Maryland, College Park. I also have a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Loyola University of Maryland. 

During college, I took a year off of my studies to teach English as an emergent program at a Kindergarten in Seoul, South Korea from 2010-2011 and it was such a wonderful chance at an internship. 

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband and my daughter, Abby, who has just turned one and a half years old at the start of this school year. My hobbies include music (listening, singing, playing the piano, etc.), cooking, and reading. 

I am so excited about meeting everyone and learning together this year!
