Mrs. Colleen O'Neill
I am both excited and honored to serve as the principal of Round Hill Elementary School, home of the BEARS!
As an experienced educator of 28 years, I hold a bachelor of arts degree in English from George Mason University, a Masters of Elementary Education from Duquesne University, and an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. Throughout my career, I have taught as an elementary classroom teacher in both Prince William and Loudoun County Public Schools and held the position of Assistant Principal in both Forest Grove Elementary and Evergreen Mill Elementary schools, and served in the role of Principal at Sully Elementary. Having recently experienced a principalship at the Middle School level, I am happy to return “home” to Elementary!
I reside in Leesburg with my husband, Keith, two sons, Aidan and Connor, and our labrador puppy, Penny. When not at school, my hobbies include reading, spending time with family and friends, and vacationing by water.
I am proud to join the Round Hill Elementary School family, to partner with and support the school’s mission of inspiring students to believe in themselves as they work to achieve great things!
Our mission here at Round Hill Elementary School is to prepare and empower learners for today and tomorrow. We will do this by:
* Establishing a foundation of strong skills
* By developing creative, critical thinkers with a confident voice
* By providing meaningful experiences that challenge learners to effectively collaborate and communicate
* By inspiring learners to contribute to the global community
Starting in August of 2017, Round Hill Elementary embarked on a three-year partnership with Code to the Future to become one of the first Computer Immersion elementary schools in the state of Virginia. This journey of innovation challenges us to better prepare our children for an ever-changing future. Through the efforts to teach computer science skills starting in Kindergarten paired with our continued incorporation of Project Based Learning (PBL) experiences, we are confident that every student will gain the skills necessary to succeed in a global community.
We hope that through our website you may catch a glimpse of the many wonderful things that Round Hill Elementary School has to offer. We welcome you to visit Round Hill Elementary School and encourage you to join us, inspiring our students to believe in themselves as they work to achieve great things!
Finally, we recognize you as our partners and know that the active involvement of family and community members enhances our school community. We believe that promoting strong School – Family – Community Partnerships will ultimately lead to increased student achievement. Consider volunteering at school or attending one of our family events during the school year. We invite you to become part of the Round Hill Elementary Parent Teacher Organization and an active volunteer community.
Parent volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to assist in classrooms and at special events. The Round Hill Elementary PTO works in partnership with the faculty and staff. This dedicated group of parents provides support for curriculum resources, equipment, and enrichment programs, and sponsors numerous events and activities for our students throughout the year.
