Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. McManus

Ms. McManus received a journalism degree from West Virginia University (WVU), but always had a deep desire to teach. After a varied and interesting career path that included time as a broadcast journalist, U.S. Senate Press Secretary, Marketing and Communications Director, and Program Director for an organization that provides camps and other programs to children with cancer and their families, Ms. McManus returned to school to earn her teaching certification.

While working as an elementary EL (English Learner) teacher, Ms. McManus returned to WVU to earn her master's degree in elementary education.  She is certified to teach middle school English/Language Arts (6-8), Journalism, and English as a Second Language in grades (K-12).

Ms. McManus is excited to be joining the English department at Eagle Ridge Middle School this year.  This is Ms. McManus' eleventh year of teaching, and she believes her students are super stars!

Ms. McManus lives in Loudoun County and is the proud mom of two children – an adult daughter (who is also a WVU grad and an awesome mom to Ms. McManus' first amazing grandson!), and an 11-year-old son who is in sixth grade. She loves spending time with her family and watching her students discover, utilize, and celebrate their talents and brainpower.
