Ms. Sofia Halapides

Greetings Moorefield Station families,

My name is Sofia Halapides and this is my ninth year as an EL teacher in Loudoun County. I am thrilled to be back at Moorefield Station for the 2022-2023 school year! My goal is to support English learners so that they have access to the curriculum and can successfully reach their full potential. Teaching English learners is my passion as I have been a language learner myself when my family moved from Israel to Greece and later to America. On this journey, I learned four languages and have enjoyed learning the culture of each country. Currently, I live in Ashburn with my husband and two sons who attend LCPS and keep us busy with their sports!

My experiences and education have equipped me to better serve my students. I had the pleasure of serving as an EL teacher at Rolling Ridge Elementary (Go Roadrunners!) for five years. My educational background includes a B.A. in Computer Science and a M.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Haifa in Israel. I also hold a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, exercising and cheering on my sons during their games. I am looking forward to meeting you and having a fantastic year!
