Welcome
It is a privilege and an honor to serve the Aldie Elementary School community. The students, staff and families of Aldie Elementary hold a special place in my heart. This year is my seventh year as the Aldie Elementary principal. I look forward to reconnecting with returning students and families, and getting to know our newest members. I pledge to work in partnership with our top-notch staff, parents, and community members to provide every child the education they deserve. This will be a “pawsome” year for Bobcats!
About Me
As a military family (Go Navy!) our family moved quite often. I began my teaching career as a special education teacher in Hampton, Virginia. Following a move to Northern Virginia, I continued my teaching career in Alexandria City Public Schools. I taught kindergarten through fifth grade, gifted education and a multi-grade K/1. I later became an evaluation specialist and then assistant principal of an Arts and Academics Focus School. After 20 years as a military family, we retired and moved to western Loudoun County, where we fell in love with its mountainous views and friendly neighbors. I continued my career as an educator and served as assistant principal at Catoctin Elementary School for three years, before becoming principal of Seldens Landing Elementary. After seven years as principal of a large school, I became principal of Aldie Elementary, where I have happily served for the past six years. I find the small school charm very appealing and nothing matches the deep and lasting connections we build with our students, families and colleagues.
My Education
I hold a bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, and Political Science and Secondary Education from Georgian Court (College) University. I earned a master’s degree in Professional Studies in Education from George Mason University, a second master’s degree in Teacher Education and Policy Studies, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from George Washington University. As a teacher, I earned National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist.
