Mrs. Heather Kern

I am thrilled to return to Trailside Middle School this year in seventh grade English!  After eight years teaching elementary school, I have delighted in the opportunity to pursue my dual passions of reading and writing instruction.  I’ve lived in Loudoun County for 23 years after having grown up in neighboring Fairfax County.  I completed my undergraduate education at George Mason University, studying child and adolescent development on my way to a bachelor’s degree in psychology with additional concentrations in English.  I received my Master’s of Arts in Education from University of Phoenix and joined LCPS in 2014. 

When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me with a book in my hand, planning my next trip to Walt Disney World, and spending time with my husband and two daughters (Abbie, going into her second year at JMU - Go Dukes! - and Julia, a senior at Broad Run High School). I am excited to be part of the Pack and help my students learn and grow!
