Mr. Benjamin Calhoun

Hello all! My name is Ben Calhoun and this is my second year here at Trailside. This year, I am teaching 7th Grade History and am so excited to get to meet and work with all of you! I received my undergraduate degree from George Mason University in History and recently finished my Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction. I am originally from Alexandria but currently live in Gainesville with my three (!) dogs. Seeing that I am relatively new to this school environment, I can not wait to teach you all everything I can about history but also to get to know you as people and individual thinkers. 

Growing up, I played lots of sports but absolutely loved football and basketball the most. Nowadays, I still play basketball in an adult league but spend most of my time watching my two favorite teams, the Colts and the Wizards, play in their respective leagues. When I am not at work, I like to spend my time at the gym, reading, or watching whatever TV show or movie is popular at the time. Outside of sports, I have a rear-ended dragster that I race at racetracks all over the east coast. The car takes about 4.3 seconds to go 1/8th Mile (which is pretty fast).
