Mr. Spruell is from Somerset, Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree (B.S.) in Biology from Juniata College. He then earned his Masters in Teaching from Salisbury University.

Before teaching at Rock Ridge, he was a Reading Intervention teacher at Eagle View Elementary in Somerset, PA for grades 3-5. He then was a 7th grade Middle School Science teacher in Salisbury, Maryland before moving to Virginia.

When he is not in the classroom, Mr. Spruell can be found golfing, traveling to new places, trying new foods, walking his dog Teak "the freak", reading a book, or playing video games.
