Mrs. Christine G. Tarrant

Christine G. Tarrant received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Music Education (Choral Emphasis) from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Mrs. Tarrant has been a choral director in the public and private sector for thirty years. This year she is excited to add Dual Enrollment Music Appreciation and Advanced Placement Music Theory to her teaching schedule. 

Mrs. Tarrant has taken graduate and master classes with world renowned voice professors, choral music composers and music educators: Dr. Eunice Boardman, Dr. Ollie Watts-Davis, James Bailey, William Warfield, Mary E. Hoffman, Doreen Rao, Moses Hogan, Dr. Rollo Dilworth, Greg Gilpin and Dr. René Boyer.

During her tenure as a Middle School and High School Choral director, students have received consistent superior ratings at the district and state levels. Under her direction, her Jazz Choir was selected to perform with the Shenandoah Singers (Shenandoah University). Her students were also selected to VMEA, VA-All State and the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) regional and national choirs. 

As a choral music educator, she has been a guest conductor and clinician. Mrs. Tarrant has directed public school, church and community choirs, prepared singers and performed as a soloist. 

She has been a presenter and adjudicator for the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) and is published in the Who’s Who in American Education 2006-2007 and 2023 editions. 

Ms. Tarrant resides in Stephens City with her husband and has three children. When not teaching, conducting or performing she loves to travel, especially to the beach.
