Mrs. Hornauer

Hello fifth grade trailblazers! My name is Waverly Hornauer and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade for the second year at Discovery Elementary! I previously taught second grade in my beautiful college town, Fredericksburg, Virginia. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and obtained my Master’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mary Washington.

Over the summer, my husband and I welcomed our sweet baby boy, Calvin. After I soak in all the newborn snuggles, I will be returning to our classroom in the middle of November. You will have an amazing time with our wonderful substitute teacher, Ms. Blackburn, who is so excited to be with you. I hope you are ready for all of the fun we are about to have in fifth grade!

Some of my favorite days are spent in the classroom, but I also enjoy taking baby Calvin on walks, reading, exploring new beaches, going to ice hockey games, and playing with my two adorable dogs, Scotty and Jax. I love going to cycle class, trying new coffee shops, and attending concerts. Indie rock is my favorite genre, but I appreciate all types of music and I am always looking for new songs to listen to!

I am so excited to meet our class and I cannot wait for the great times that are ahead of us. My goal is for our class to have fun, learn lots of meaningful content, and fall in love with the learning process each day in the classroom. Get ready for the best year yet.
