Hello! My name is Laura Manduzio and I am a proud addition to the River Bend Middle School Health and Physical Education team. I graduated from Broad Run High School, yay LCPS! After high school, I attended West Virginia University and earned my bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Teacher Education. Next, I moved to the Midwest and earned my master's degree in Physical Education, Teaching with Technology, at the University of Northern Iowa. There, I learned how to implement heart rate monitors in physical education class as a Polar Scholar. Each student's effort grade was individualized based on their heart rate. What an amazing experience that was! Then I took my talents to Clearview Elementary School for 13 years, teaching students how to live a healthy lifestyle. My PE Department started a 5K/1 Mile Fun Run Race in the community to fundraise for heart rate monitors. After 3 years, we purchased 2 class sets! Every 4th-6th grade student learned how to personally evaluate their fitness levels based on their heart rate. Now I am totally ready to accept the new challenge of motivating and influencing middle school students to make healthy choices to last throughout their lifetime.
