Mrs. Maria Reuter

Welcome to Kindergarten!  This is my second year working alongside Ms. Leib and I’m so excited to be working with her again.  Last  school year was a unique one and we were both in Distance Learning.  I’m very excited to finally be able to meet our students in person this year!

Both my kids attended Countryside Elementary.  It was a bittersweet moment when my youngest left elementary school as we had so many wonderful memories. We are so grateful to have met amazing teachers and staff and made many good friends throughout our time at Countryside. I truly enjoyed the years I spent volunteering, helping in classrooms, the library, and especially on field trips. I’m so excited that I am now a part of the Kindergarten team! My experience last year as a Teacher’s Assistant encouraged me to pursue my education and attain a teaching degree.  I am currently in Northern Virginia Community College’s Teacher Specialization program, with a projected graduation in spring of next year.  After graduation, I will then transfer to a four year university.  I have not quite figured out yet which school but it will most likely be George Mason or Shenandoah University.

I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1994 at the age of 15. I still speak Tagalog and Pangasinense, a Filipino dialect, fluently. I enjoy cooking and crafting, and I love to bake! I loved baking so much that I opened up a home-based bakery when my kids were younger. It was a perfect occupation for me at the time since I could do what I enjoyed and be with my kids at the same time. Now that my kids are older, I mostly bake as a hobby.

My husband, who is from Iowa, and I have been married for 20 years. Our eldest, Logan, is 15 and will be a rising sophomore at Potomac Falls High school this year. He loves tinkering and building things as well as anything related to aviation. Izzie, our youngest, is 13 and will be an 8th grader at River Bend Middle School. Just like me, she loves to craft and bake. Here’s a fun fact: Izzie was a Cougar Council President!

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, especially our kindergarten friends, and I wish everyone a wonderful school year! See you all soon!
