Degrees and Certifications:

Jenny Shipman

I am very excited to join the LVHS staff this year! Although this is my first year teaching high school, this will be my 18th year of teaching special education.  Most of my career has been in elementary special education and I am definitely looking forward to the change. I have taught for the last 10 years here in Loudoun County, at Horizon Elementary in Sterling, and then just prior to LVHS, at Discovery Elementary in Ashburn. I take pride in working with my students and families, fostering a positive school experience, and creating a team-like feel for the success of my students.

I would describe myself as a fun, (sometimes dorky - but hey, the kids remember my lessons!) creative, and caring educator, who recognizes the importance of all students feeling respected, loved, included, and that they have a voice. I grew up in Central Massachusetts and graduated from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania in 2001. I am the daughter of a 34 year, middle-school teaching veteran. I watched my mother pour her heart and soul into each of her students, and I hope to live up to her memory each day with all that I do for my students.

I live in Middleburg, with my husband, my father, my 11-year-old daughter, my 19-year-old stepson, and Hobbes, our 90 pound Redbone/Lab/Pitbull mix lapdog. We enjoy renovating our 30-year-old house, yard work, gardening, and spending time as a family on the weekends.

I'm truly excited to get to know the students this year!
