Mrs. Alice "Katy" Schain
Mrs. Schain joins Tuscarora High School from John Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education Pre K-8 and specialization in middle school and history from Shepherd University. She earned her Master's Degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia, where she also earned her English Language Learner and secondary English certifications. Most recently, she completed her Education Leadership Certification from James Madison University. This is her 29th year in education.
For the last five years, Mrs. Schain has taught ESL English, English 9, English 11, and Literacy at John Handley High School. Before that she taught English and reading in 7th & 8th grade at Daniel Morgan Middle School, in Winchester, after seventeen years at Johnson-Williams Middle School in Clarke County. During her time in Clarke County she taught pre-Algebra, history, humanities, and English. She began her career in Fauquier County at Warrenton Middle School.
Mrs. Schain enjoys hiking, reading, learning to ride a motorcycle, spending time with her husband and two daughters, when home from college. She is honored to be working side by side with Ms. Kristen Sheetz and with Husky Nation!
