Mr. Dominic Rutan
From Heidelberg, Germany, Dominic Rutan grew up in Loudoun County and graduated from Broad Run High School. He went on to earn both of his higher education degrees from James Madison University: a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Entering his eighth year of teaching and third at Lightridge High School in the capacity of a Social Sciences & Global Studies teacher, he has experience teaching Psychology, Economics (AP & academic), Global Social Issues, and World History & Geography (Prehistory-1500; 1500-Present).
In addition to teaching, Mr. Rutan is a professional soccer coach and coaching educator. He holds a UEFA B License through the Deutscher Fußball-Bund, a National B License through the US Soccer Federation, and a Premier Diploma through United Soccer Coaches. Out of 275 national applicants in October 2023, he was one of thirty to be selected as mentee of United Soccer Coaches’s 30 Under 30 Program for the class of 2023-2024.
Mr. Rutan was most recently an assistant coach with George Mason University Women's Soccer team (2022-2024), a division one program competing in the Atlantic 10 Conference. He also serves as the U13-U15 Age Group Director at The St. James FC Virginia while also working with the U13-U19 GA teams as a Girls Academy Staff Coach. He also serves in the capacity of a coach educator with the United Soccer Coaches and Virginia Youth Soccer Association's coaching education departments.
