Mr. Jonathan Wyman

Welcome back my Wolf Pack!  I'm super excited to get to know everyone, and help you all find your howl (voice, preferrably using your words, ha).  While this is my first year here at Trailside Middle School, I'm no stranger to teaching and the classroom.  My teaching nature started probably from birth as my parents, both amazing teachers (I swear I'm not biased), instilled in me, and all of my brothers and sisters, the ideal levels of patience, empathy, compassion to be a great teacher.  My father, Dr. Laurence Wyman, taught Music Theory (35+ yrs) and is a world renown Saxophone artist, and composer.  My mother, Mrs Ilisa Wyman, taught in middle school social studies classrooms for 30+ years, only taking a 'break' to raise all of us kids.  I'd be nowhere without my family, they mean the world to me, and i'm excited to now add trailside to my extended family.  My own teaching career began, in 2003 when I graduated from the State Universiy of New York at Fredonia with a BA in Philosphy. My parents/family had just recently retired and moved down to Winchester VA, so I joined them in getting away from the excessive snowfall of Western New York.  Once down in VA I started long term substituting for Frederick County Public Schools.  I inevitably took over a Special Education position and worked at James Wood Middle School, and got my masters in special education.  Since teaching middle school was apparently not enough, haha, I have also added coaching to my life since I was 14.  So I have surrounded myself with kids, and anyway I can help them grow and become the best versions of themselves, I'll do it! :)

I have a lot of passions in my life, and I've always considered it a strength to be well rounded and understand the world around me as much as possible.  Outside of school, you would most likely find me, connecting with nature, Spending as much time as I can with my family and cuddling with my wonderful Dogs.  My three rescue puppers make my home glow and they make the world better!  A Pit mix, Terrier, and an American Dingo, have saved me just as much as I have saved them.  For the better part of the past decade I have been involved in the growth of the sport that is American Ninja Warrior, being made famous through the NBC sports reality compeititoin show of the same name.  Building a Gym, for some of my students and I to train in, designing obstacle courses to challenge some of the best athletes in the world, developing trainng programs for 100's of people to optimize their athletic abilities has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life that I will always cherish.  Several of my students even went on to fame, making it onto the ANW show.  I enjoy traveling, and experiencing the world and all the different cultures it has to offer.  I'm also a huge movie buff, and movie quote fanatic.  :)   I love to make people smile, and I truly hate to see people sad.

I have high expectations for this school year, but I believe with solid communication, hard work, and a whole lot of patience, this Wolf Pack is going to flourish! I can't wait to see the growth in these pups!  If there are any questions you have for me, don't hesitate to ask, and I will do my best to answer!
