Welcome to 8th Grade English,

My name is Ms. Nelson and I am very excited to start this year at Trailside Middle School.  I have lived and taught all over the country, but I am glad to be back in Virginia.  I grew up in Texas riding horses and doing theater.  Before I became a teacher I worked as a stage manager with local theater companies. I have three crazy kids, Peter 17, Andrew 14, and Kyra 11, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 leopard gecko (he lives at the school) and recently 2 rescued rats. In my spare time I like to throw pots (I'm a potter) and work in my garden.  I am an absolute fanatic Doctor Who fan.  If you don't know what that is, don't worry, you will.  

In this class we are going to read and write everyday.  I believe that if it is worth your time to do it, it should be worth my time to grade it---so be prepared.  I am looking forwarding to meeting all of you.  Remember We are AmeriCANS, not Americant's!
