Hello! I am excited to start my first year as an EL teacher at Smart’s Mill Middle School. I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's Degree in Linguistics and Education specializing in teaching English and German as a second language. I taught English and German as a second language to students Grades 5 -11 for four years in public and private schools and worked as an interpreter in Russia. When I came to the United States, I started a career in marketing within a large software company. I then left the corporate world to go back to my passion of working with young people. Most recently, I worked as a long-term substitute teacher in the World Languages and EL Programs for LCPS. It's been a blessing and I truly love working with children, and young people in Loudoun County.
A little bit about me:
I have lived in Loudoun County for almost 20 years with my husband, our two children, two dogs and three cats. As a child, I lived in different countries around the world and enjoyed learning about culture and languages of each country I lived in and visited. I love languages and know four languages. Besides other modern languages, I additionally studied Latin at university and loved not only the subject but also my wonderful, wise Latin teacher. Now I am learning Spanish and loving it.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, learning, reading, travelling, cheering at my husband's and my sons' basketball games, and gardening (as my new hobby). My favorite fitness activities are taekwondo and hot yoga.
I look forward to a great year with our wonderful students and parents. Go Mavericks!
