Pete Snyder

Mr. Snyder is a Class of 1990 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History. As a young naval officer, he was first stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, proudly serving on USS HEWITT (DD-966), the “World’s Finest Strike Destroyer,” and USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62), a Forrestal class aircraft carrier. His final posting was as an officer instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center, Pacific in San Diego, California. During his eight years on active duty, Mr. Snyder traveled to over twenty countries and completed three Middle East deployments.

Following his naval service, Mr. Snyder spent over twenty years as a corporate account executive, working in various organizations ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 companies. During this time, he had the amazing opportunity to live and work in Tokyo, Japan for seven years. While there, he climbed Mount Fuji, learned to speak fairly decent Japanese, and became somewhat of a sushi snob. In 2021, he earned his teaching credential through the EducateVA Career Switcher program and is excited to be part of the outstanding team at River Bend Middle School!

Born and raised in Southern California, Mr. Snyder attended a high school that boasted an ocean view and was within walking distance of the beach…which, of course, was totally awesome. His favorite hobbies are reading, pondering, and offering unsolicited advice to anyone who will listen. He is passionate about music, Mexican food, In-N-Out Burger, Navy football, and learning something new every day. He now lives happily in Ashburn, Virginia with his wife and two sons. Mr. Snyder is also fond of saying, “Beat Army!” when he squares his corners, and upon any other occasion he deems appropriate, which is pretty much anytime. “Go Navy!”
