Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Olivia Carbo

Hello! My name is Olivia Carbo and I graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. This is my third year here at Potomac Falls and I am so excited to continue my career!

About me:

I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Conestoga Valley High School. There, I played field hockey and lacrosse and was involved in multiple school clubs. During my time at SRU, I was able to be a part of an organization known as MEDLife. MEDLife provides medical care to low-income families all over the world. Their goal is to empower the poor in the fight for equal access to healthcare, education, and a safe home- all issues of great importance to me. Through this organization, I was able to travel to Lima, Peru to provide care for those in need. There, I discovered a passion for other cultures around the world and a love for photography. I was able to combine the two and capture indescribable moments.

My Philosophy:

My philosophy of teaching is to see each student succeed, not only in the classroom, but in life as well. In order to achieve this goal, the time will be taken to get to know my students, to understand how they learn, and to tailor the curriculum around their academic needs. Pushing my students to their academic limits while giving unconditional support will allow them to build their confidence to stand tall and become critical thinkers.
Building a safe environment for students to feel comfortable enough in their own skin is very important as well. Students should feel safe and have enough faith in themselves that when they make a mistake, they are not afraid of other's reactions, and they understand one mistake is not the end of the world. If students are not comfortable in a classroom, it prevents them from taking risks and impedes them from learning as much as if they were actively a part of the classroom discussions.
