2023 Winter Admissions Cycle - For enrollment in school year 2023-2024
- All Applicants must have a current PSAT (NMSQT) score
- 9th grade MATA applicants can substitute the PSAT 8/9 for the PSAT (NMSQT)
Thank you for visiting our website! This is where you will find the most current information about the admissions process and the criteria necessary to apply to the Advanced Academy of Engineering & Technology (Adv. AET) and/or the Monroe Advanced Technical Academy (MATA) programs. The 2023 Winter Admissions Cycle is for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders applying for enrollment to the Academies of Loudoun for the 2023-2024 school year. The Admissions & Outreach Team is here to support you through this process. We will be conducting a number of Winter Admissions Information Sessions throughout Loudoun County (see schedule below) and visiting with all of our LCPS high school students at their schools during the 2023 Winter Admissions Cycle. Winter Application Timeline & Requirements
Application Window Opens | December 5, 2022
Application Window Closes | February 21, 2023
Winter Admissions Testing Session | Saturday, February 25, 2023 (For Advanced AET applicants only)
March 2023 - Admissions offers will be posted in admissions portal
March-August 2023 - Applicant must accept or decline all admissions offers. Waitlisted applicants will be notified as seats become available.

- Currently enrolled in Math Analysis or AP Calculus AB
- Successful completion of 2 science credits by the end of 10th grade (Research Earth Science and/or Research Biology and/or Research Chemistry are recommended)
- Final grade of C or above in each course in grade 9 and grade of C or above in each course for Semester I of grade 10
- PSAT scores (NMSQT)
- Writing Assessment score
*Applicants without a PSAT score report may submit an SAT or an ACT score report as a substitute. Results must be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to February 21, 2023

- Resume (upload in admissions portal)
The resume must include:
Full name and LCPS student ID
All experiences or interests relevant to pathway choices in application
- Career Goal Statement (500 word max – upload in application portal)
- Enrolled in Algebra I or above at time of application
- PSAT score (NMSQT)**
- Review of Academic Record
- Verification of on-time graduation requirements
- Counselor recommendation (automated process through application portal for LCPS students)

Testing Accommodations Information
Advanced AET Writing AssessmentStudents applying to the Advanced AET program who are requesting testing accommodations for the Writing Assessment must request the accommodations in writing to AcademiesAdmissions@lcps.org, no later than 12pm (noon) on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Important: Only accommodations for standardized assessments that are part of an IEP (Individualized Education Program), Section 504 Plan, or an EL-APP (English Learner Assessment Participation Plan) can be considered.

Winter Application
Private and Home Schooled Applicant Instructions - WINTER**Home/Private schools students offered admission to the Academies of Loudoun must be enrolled concurrently as full-time LCPS students in order to attend the Academies of Loudoun.
