Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Koudela, Lee

My name is Lee Koudela and I am currently entering my first year teaching health & physical education at River Bend Middle School. Last year I graduated from Penn State University, where I majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Applied Exercise and Health. For my last semester at Penn State, I interned at Bald Eagle High School in health and physical eduaction and taught students from 7th-12th grade. I also have coaching experience and helped coach the local 9th grade boys basketball team in State College.

As an educator, I pride myself in keeping an inclusive classroom where all students are welcome and treated equal. I personally see the purpose of physical education as teaching to the whole student and not just to their mind and body. I understand that every student who comes into my classroom is going to be unique, but building relationships with students is essential to find what they enjoy to participate in. I love seeing growth in each and every one of my students and can not wait to see more of that this year!

As a first year teacher, I am new to the area and just moved from State College, Pennsylvania where I lived for the past 22 years. I am hoping to become more involved in the community and am excited to continue exploring all around the DC area. In my free time I enjoy, working out, hiking, watching college football and basketball, watching all Cleveland professional sports, playing basketball and eating! I am a huge foodie and love trying new resturants and learning new ways to cook.
