Virtual Loudoun Distance Learning (DL) is a program that offers synchronous, daily instruction. Students enrolled in Virtual Loudoun Distance Learning will take all of their classes virtually, without attending a brick and mortar school in person.
- Courses are delivered using a course learning management system, called Schoology, and students will collectively log in to class via Google Meet.
- Students are actively engaged in classwork, homework, and other assignments.
- Students who enroll in Virtual Loudoun Distance Learning make a one year commitment to receiving all of their schooling in the Distance Learning format.
- Students from all over Loudoun County will attend virtual Distance Learning classes together.
Synchronous Classes
Classes will follow a bell schedule and attendance in a Google Meet is required each day. The schedule will follow a typical LCPS schedule. Secondary students have 4 blocks per day, and alternating A and B days. Students will engage with their teacher and classmates in real time. Teachers will facilitate learning using Schoology as the primary learning management system, and other tools and instructional methods, as determined by the teacher. Students complete weekly assignments, readings, discussions, and group work, as well as exams and other activities designed to enhance learning outcomes, all at times that are determined and communicated by the teacher.
Classes Offered
Virtual Loudoun Distance Learning offers courses based on student demand, and is not able to offer every course in the LCPS program of studies. Students should expect courses to be rigorous and enriching, and should actively participate in their learning each day.
