• Ms. Chaszar began teaching the Spectrum program in 2001 at Farmwell Station Middle School. She opened Smart's Mill Middle School as the Spectrum instructor in 2004 and now resides at Mercer Middle School.
    Ms. Chaszar holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Specialist certification for the Gifted and Talented from the University of Virginia. Ms. Chaszar has been awarded the Outstanding Teacher of the Gifted by the Northern Virginia Council for Gifted Education and was a Shenandoah University 2005 and 2013 Teacher of the Year Finalist. Ms. Chaszar was also awarded the honor of being named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who Among American Women, and Who's Who Among American Educators. Ms. Chaszar has been selected to as one of twenty teacher educators from the Washington, D.C. area to serve on the Newseum Educator Advisory Team. She holds a Master Teacher ,Mentor Teacher and Teacher as a Leader certification from the Virginia Department of Education. Ms. Chaszar has served as faculty sponsor for the Student Government, Ecybermission Teams, and Academic Challenge Teams. Ms. Chaszar also heads Mercer's Musical Theatre Department. Most recently, Ms. Chaszar was a 2017 Washington Post Teacher of the Year finalist.
