Ms. Sharon Sweet

Welcome to the English Language Learner (ELL) department at Independence High School!

Ms. Sweet is entering her thirteenth year of teaching and her second year of teaching EL students in Loudoun County. She is the EL department chair at Independence and teaches both sheltered and co-taught classes. 

Raised in Winchester, Virginia, she received a BA in History and Political Science and certification in Secondary Education from Bridgewater College (Go Eagles!) and holds an M. Ed in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from James Madison University (Go Dukes!). Prior to joining the inaugural staff at Independence, Mrs. Sweet taught for 11 years in Frederick County, VA.  She taught grades 9-12 and a variety of social science courses.
