Ms. Sharon Sweet
Welcome to the English Learner (EL) department at Independence High School!
Ms. Sweet is entering her sixteenth year of teaching and her fifth year of teaching EL students in Loudoun County. She is Independence's EL department chair and teaches sheltered and co-taught classes.
Raised in Winchester, Virginia, she received a BA in History and Political Science and a certification in Secondary Education from Bridgewater College (Go Eagles!). She holds an M. Ed in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from James Madison University (Go Dukes!). She has recently earned a graduate certificate in literacy instruction from George Mason University. Before joining the inaugural staff at Independence, Ms. Sweet taught for 11 years in Frederick County, VA.
