Ms. Sharon Sweet

Welcome to the English Learner (EL) department at Independence High School!

Ms. Sweet is entering her fifteenth year of teaching and her fourth year of teaching EL students in Loudoun County. She is Independence's EL department chair and teaches sheltered and co-taught classes. 

Raised in Winchester, Virginia, she received a BA in History and Political Science and certification in Secondary Education from Bridgewater College (Go Eagles!) and holds an M. Ed in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from James Madison University (Go Dukes!). Before joining the inaugural staff at Independence, Mrs. Sweet taught for 11 years in Frederick County, VA.  She taught grades 9-12 and a variety of social science courses.
