Mrs. Melissa Hill

Mrs. Hill has been teaching at Cedar Lane for two years.  This will be her third year teaching at Cedar Lane and her second experience teaching 3rd grade.  Mrs. Hill began teaching 1st grade at Cedar Lane during the hybrid/distance learning year of 2020.  She then had the wonderful opportunity to loop to 2nd grade and now has another opportunity to work with the amazing third grade team.  Mrs. Hill was a substitute teacher before getting her full time position at Cedar Lane. She has taught grades 1-5 in various states and even had the opportunity to teach overseas in Australia.  Mrs. Hill has ten years of teaching experience in multiple grades.  After Mrs. Hill's 5th year of teaching, she took time off to stay at home with her children.  She also worked with the Air Force for a couple of years while her family was stationed in Australia.  While doing her Air Force job, she realized how much she missed teaching and decided to teach in the local schools in Alice Springs, Australia.  When Mrs. Hill and her family returned to the United States in 2015, she decided to pursue her Masters degree at George Mason University in Education and Curriculum with a focus on Literacy Leadership Grades K-6.  Mrs. Hill achieved her Master's degree in 2018.   She also has her Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University, from Los Angeles California and received her teaching credential. Mrs.  Hill is passionate about teaching and genuinely loves helping children.  When she is not finding creative activities for her students, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and experiencing other countries, reading, and spending time with her friends.  She is excited to work with your children this year!
