Mrs. Kerry Stenger

Greetings Wolfpack!

I am so excited to be starting my third year at Trailside Middle School as a Reading Specialist.  I am a lifelong learner with a growth mindset and thrive on working as part of a team.  My passion for literacy and love of children drives me to think critically about best practices for engaging instruction that positively impacts young people every day.  My professional journey as an educator has been extremely rewarding!  Over the past 25 years, I have taught in Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia.  My unique experiences have given me opportunities to grow professionally with student learners as well as adult learners.  I have worked with remedial reading students, students learning the English language, exceptional students, and advanced readers.  I have worked with teams of teachers to track data, unpack curriculum, pace and differentiate instruction, start new school initiatives, problem solve, enhance community involvement, as well as plan units of instruction to meet individual needs and deepen the thinking of all learners.

I grew up on a dairy farm in Maryland and after marrying my best friend, we moved to beautiful West Virginia.  I have been blessed with 25 years of marriage and two amazing boys.  My oldest son recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in economics, and my youngest son is a freshman at West Virginia University. Go Mountaineers! I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, football, boating, dogs, and traveling to new places.

There is just something about a new school year that encourages everyone involved to think about hope and possibility.  I sincerely look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and parents of Trailside Middle School and work diligently to make the most of each learning experience.  Henry Ford says, "coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is a success." I firmly believe that we can all be an innovative community where caring relationships and authentic learning experiences will inspire all students to be their very best.
