Mr. Michael "Mike" Onda

I have been a Business & Information Technology teacher since 1999. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1988 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. Upon graduation, I received a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and spent 11 years on active duty as a Communications and Information Systems Officer, responsible for the planning, installation, operations, and maintenance of radio networks, switched telephone networks, and data networks. I separated from active duty in 1999 and spent 21 years teaching at James Wood High School in Winchester, VA. I also coached Cross Country for 19 years, 16 of which as the Head Coach, and coached both Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field for 21 years (primarily distance, but also coached sprinters and throwers at various points), the last 3 as Head Coach. I am also a VHSL-certified volleyball official and officiate both public and private school volleyball matches at both the high school and middle school level for the Winchester Volleyball Officials' Association; we officiate public and private schools in Frederick County, Clarke County, Warren County, Shenandoah County, and Winchester City.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Mandy, since 2003. We have one daughter. I enjoy spending time with my family, and my hobbies are fitness-related (power/fitness walking, biking, strength training, etc.).
