My name is Susan Smith and I am thrilled to have returned to my LCPS home after four years in Texas. I have spent 13 of my 22 years teaching here in Loudoun County, serving as both a classroom teacher at Potowmack Elementary as well as a Reading Specialist at Sugarland Elementary. This is my second year at Countryside and I am honored to be a part of this community!

I received my BS degree in Early Childhood Education from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, and completed my M.Ed. at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA with an emphasis in Reading instruction. (Fun fact: our very own Reading Specialist, Ms. Sierra, taught one of my grad school classes!)

My husband Derek and I will celebrate our 36th anniversary this year. We have three adult children (all LCPS grads – Ooohhh PFalls!) and one beautiful daughter-in-love. I am a die-hard Nats fan and never has supporting my team been more fun than while living in Houston during the 2019 World Series!
