Degrees and Certifications:

Master in Deaf Education

Dawn Hitchens

I am a graduate of Western Maryland College (currently known as McDaniel College) with a Masters in Deaf Education. This year will be my 20th year teaching ASL for Loudoun County Public Schools.  Currently, I teach ASL levels I, II and III at Loudoun Valley High School.  I am the sponsor of the ASL Club and a member of ASLTA, the National American Sign Language Teachers Association.  I established and am the mentor for the local Charter Chapter of the ASL National Honor Society.  This year I will continue to assist with the International Service Club.
Should you need help at any time or need to schedule a virtual office visit, please send me a message to schedule.  Please know that I tend to see messages quicker if sent to me through Remind (a text serice).  Emails do not get checked 24-7 and sometimes get burried.  Mamy messages (including those from LVHS staff) go directly to spam.  Realize, that I will be unable to schedule any one-on-one meetings alone with a student and will need to find another adult to participate in any meeting.  All students and parents have my remind code pubished for them on my one pager, found in Schoology.  Please sign up for this as it will help everyone stay informed.
