Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jennifer Phillips
This will be my first year working with LCPS for the 2020-2021 school year. My family recently relocated to Ashburn Virginia from Atlanta Georgia due to my husband's military placement. I have a total of eleven years teaching experience in Kindergarten, second grade, and as a K-5 reading and math early intervention specialist. I have my Master's degree in Elementary Education, I am gifted endorsed and have a coaching endorsement. I have experience as an Early Intervention Specialist which included providing expert attention to the needs of students in the area of reading and math, supporting teachers in implementing effective reading instruction and differentiation of reading and math small groups. I assess the reading strengths and needs of students, provide that information to parents, teachers, and administration, using the results to plan and implement an effective reading and math program for the students. I coordinated the administration of benchmark assessments, examined the use of data from the assessments, and monitored student progress. I provided reading and math interventions to students who are struggling with reading and math. I have supported, supplemented, and extended classroom teaching to implement a quality reading and math program that meets the needs of students and work with teachers, support staff, and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the reading and math program with the total curriculum. I've led professional development in literacy and numeracy, provided information on literacy and numeracy methodology, modeled strategies or techniques, conducted demonstration and collaborative lessons, and coached veteran teachers and mentored new teachers.
