Mrs. Julia Scott

“To learn a language is to have one more window from which to view the world.”

Hola :)

My name is Julia Scott and I am excited to be your teacher for the 2022-23 school year.  My journey with the Spanish language began when I was in first grade and had the privilege of being placed in a Spanish immersion program. I quickly grew to love the language and culture, studying it from that time all the way through high school and into college! I even spent my junior year living and studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. Learning the language and many amazing cultures of the Spanish-speaking world has opened my eyes and heart, and allowed me to meet people from all around the world. It's a beautiful life skill that I love to pass on to my students!

This will be my sixth year teaching in LCPS, where I also graduated from. I spent my early childhood in New Jersey before my family moved to Sterling, Virginia, where I attended both Sterling Middle and Park View High School. I then moved to Ohio to attend Bowling Green State University, where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in World Language Education. I later earned my Master's of Education in Instructional Design from Western Governors University. I moved back to northern VA in 2017 and taught Spanish for three years at Rock Ridge HS. I absolutely love teaching in Loudoun and giving back to the community that I grew up in. This year I will be teaching Spanish 1 and 4 Honors.

I'm also proud to be the teacher for the P.E.E.R. program at Lightridge. P.E.E.R. is a leadership class for juniors and seniors that want to learn how to grow their mentoring skills and help create positive experiences for their fellow students. We create lessons and events for the students of LHS, as well conduct one-on-one student mentoring both at Lightridge and one of our feeder elementary schools. If you have any questions about P.E.E.R. or student mentoring, please feel free to reach out to me!

When I am not in school, I am busy being a new mom to my son Jack, who was born in July! My husband, son, and I live in Leesburg with our two cats, Thor and Nala. We love spending time together, especially outdoors during the warmer months. I am looking forward to a great year with you all! :)
