Mrs. Styles

Welcome!

My name is Mrs. Bonnie Styles and I've been a SEARCH /GT Resource teacher for many years.  I taught 5th grade, in Loudoun mostly, for many years prior to becoming a SEARCH teacher.   The role of the GT Teacher in Loudoun has changed over the last few years.  Students no longer need to go to a different location by bus once a week to attend FUTURA.  Instead, each school now has their own in-house FUTURA (which is now called FUSION).   Beginning this past school year, I took on teaching FUSION (identified gifted 4th and 5th grade students).  I'm ready to start my 2nd year teaching FUSION.

Teaching SEARCH allows me to share unusual, different kinds of things with students that they might not typically see during the regular school day.  We complete puzzles and play games, learn new things and explore new ways to think about things we already know to encourage deeper learning.  We learn about extraordinary people (ever heard of Horace Pippin or Roger Price?)   SEARCH encourages students to trust their own brain, embrace creative and unusual ideas,  and build stamina for challenging tasks.  I love to see students doing their best and discovering where their talents lie.

I have three of my own children.  My older son graduated from LCPS in 2020 and my daughter graduated in 2022.  My younger son is in middle school.  I have three dogs (all chocolate Labrador retrievers) that bring a lot of joy to my life. I also enjoy gardening

You can contact me via email at bonnie.parsons@lcps.org and reach me through your child's homeroom on class dojo.
