Mrs. Sarah McIntosh

Ms. McIntosh is so excited to have the opportunity to join the Simpson Mustang HERD, and she looks forward to getting to know the amazing students, staff, and families at Simpson. She has been an educator for the last 18 years, with almost all of that time being spent in middle schools. She had the pleasure of being a dean at Willard Middle School for the last four years, but she began her educational journey as a science teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science in addition to a Master of Teaching and Virginia Endorsement in Administration and Supervision, all from the University of Virginia.  She taught Physical Science at Swanson Middle School in Arlington, Virginia and Holmes Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia. She also taught Earth Science and Environmental Science at Salem High School in Salem, Massachusetts.

As a school leader, she knows that powerful moments are built when educators, students, and families are working together, and she is thrilled to join this collaborative team. The work that we do as educators is difficult and complex, but also so meaningful and rewarding. As a Mustang, she will strive to create an environment in which teachers, students, and families feel supported, challenged, heard, and valued. She is passionate about hands-on learning and creating meaningful experiences for students and believes in the power of teamwork and connection.

She currently lives in Round Hill, VA with her husband and two kids.  When not delving into all things education, she can be found cheering on UVA in all things sports, coaching her daughter’s basketball and softball teams, or convincing her son to play one more game of basketball with her! As a Northern Neck native, she loves to be on the water — fishing, crabbing, and reading are the best ways to spend a summer day. She cannot wait to learn more about our community!
