Debate Team / Debate

Independence Debate has quickly established a winning tradition that has led to student success at the local, state and national levels. Indy Debate competes in the Washington-Arlington Catholic Forensic League, which includes many of the premier high school teams in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Independence also competes in VHSL at the state level.

Debate is open to all Independence students in grades 9-12. The debate season usually commences with the start of school and runs through spring. Prior to the beginning of the season, several interest meetings are held to allow new students to familiarize themselves with the different types of debate and the commitment that is involved with joining the team.
