Astronomy Club

  • Who are the club sponsors?

    Mrs. Binkley is the sponsor. Ms. Binkley teaches science here at Indy and can be found in room 2404.  

    Where does the club meet?

    The club meets through Google Meet  (Google Meet Join Code: IndyAstro).  We also post information through our Schoology group: IHS Astronomy (Join Code: GJ7T-8XSR-JJQG8) and in our Remind group (send @7d3haf to 81010 to sign up for alerts).  Finally, we have an active Instagram Account.  You can follow us there @indy.astronomy

    When does the club meet?

    The club meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4:15 - 5:15.  In addition, we may schedule additional meetings as needed to accomodate the need of the different activities we're engaged in as a club.

    How can I join?

    Join our schoology group (Join Code: GJ7T-8XSR-JJQG8) and sign up for our remind slerts(code: 7d3haf).  Watch for information about our first meeting!

    Do I need to know anything about Astronomy to feel comfortable?

    No! Newbies are totally welcome. THIS is where you come to learn.

    What do we do in Astronomy Club?

    We are focused primarily on doing hands-on activities (experiments, rocket launches, and more) associated with lectures geared to help you learn about astronomy and aerospace! We also have telescope viewing sessions (both online and live if there is an event). Lastly, we prepare for national competitions, including the MIT Think competition. 

    Is there a Google Meet associated with this club?

    Yes, there is! It's where we meet on Wednesdays.  The join code is IndyAstro.

    Are there any dues needed to pay?
     
    As of now, there is no requirement to pay any money for resources or to join!
